A girl’s horrible shopping experience in ZARA, Bullring Birmingham
A girl’s real shopping experience in @ZARA, Bullring Birmingham. How horrible and astonishing it was !
A girl lost her phone with very important personal and professional information when she went shopping in ZARA, Bullring Birmingham. The staff in the store refused to provide any help to the girl. THE GIRL WAS TREATED ASTONISHINGLY BADLY BY ZARA.
Here are JUST some words claimed by @ZARA:
CCTV was built for the safety of the store itself and was not there to help customers find personal belongings.
All-high level stores never look at CCTV footage for customers.

*Does Zaracare really care? Here’s my story from shopping at Zara*
First of all, I would like to let people know who I am. I am just an ordinary girl. As all other young people, I like fashion. I once defined myself as being a big fan of Zara. In fact, I have been a loyal customer of ZARA for many years.
Since I was a young girl, I became keen and interested in this brand, and started to explore its brand culture. This enthusiasm has lasted until now. To be more exact, my high loyalty, great favor and trust in ZARA has lasted until a quite special day, which funny enough was October 31, 2015. It was a special day for most people, but it was a nightmare on New Street for me! Oh, my god. I can’t even imagine how much I suffered in ZARA Women store, Bullring Birmingham.

I went shopping in Zara Women store on the afternoon of October 31. I tried on a coat in the store (not the fitting room) and purchased the coat within several minutes. Before I left the store, I found my mobile phone had disappeared from my coat pocket. I was in shock because I had used the phone just before entering ZARA Women.
Straightaway, I asked the sales assistant for help. She took me to the security guards. The security asked their staff at the cashier. He then told me nobody had handed in a phone. I told the security that the phone was very important to me, because I had lots of very important professional data and personal details on the phone.

I asked them if they could inspect the CCTV footage during the time when I was shopping in the store. Immediately, without hesitation they refused to let me see the footage and told me they had already dealt with my case. I tried to persuade them, I stated that the CCTV would obviously help in solving the problem. It was clear that they had little patience for me and argued that they didn’t have the techniques to check the CCTV footage. But to my knowledge, CCTV is quite a basic setup in most stores. Let alone big stores in Bullring such as ZARA.
I found there was little hope in asking them for further help. It was utterly embarrassing to stay inside the store. When I asked them for the contact number of the store, the security guard replied with “why” with a rude, aggressive tone.

After I left the store, I went to enquire about the security in another store, as there were monitors with several screens located in obvious positions in this store. After the security guard understood my case, he expressed that they have got CCTV and the footage could be reviewed to help customers by the permission of their manager.
This man suggested that I should go back to ZARA Women again and speak to the manager directly. I went to ZARA Women, and told a sales assistant that I would like to speak to the manager. The sales assistant just said, “the manager is busy, or she needs to have a lunch break.” It was 6 pm in the evening. It’s surprising to hear that their manager has lunch at this time. So how do you think? I was taken to security again. When one of the gentlemen saw me, his face was as long as a fiddle, he was furious with me. He even shouted at me.
The following day, I went to see the police and they told me that without evidence they wouldn’t be able to help me investigate the case further. The police tried to contact Zara several times but they didn’t answer the phone. They suggested that I should go back to Zara and request the Zara staff to see the footage again.
This time I spoke to Zara’s manager and the security but they still refused to look at the CCTV and also refused to contact the police. After this, I returned to the police station, letting them know what had happened. The police were surprised to why Zara wouldn’t bother to look at the CCTV. The police had no other suggestions. They told me to try and further convince Zara personally.

Apart from being a foreigner in another country, knowing that both the police and Zara wouldn’t help me, I burst into tears. I felt like piggy in the middle and totally powerless, it was so frustrating.
So finally, after all of these horrible and nasty experiences I went back to Zara again. This time they stressed that apparently all-high level stores never look at CCTV footage for customers. I told the staff that over the years I have always been a consumer and loyal customer of Zara’s products. I asked them whether or not they wanted to lose faithful consumers because of their indifferent attitude towards people who once had trust in them.
They argued that the CCTV was built for the safety of the store itself and was not there to help customers find personal belongings.
I feel gob smacked and heartbroken, is this brand the one that I loved and entrusted? I don’t think that this is fair, I belief that the customer is just as important if not more important than the store itself.
